Today I’m joined by J.R. Martinez for an interview on First Class Fatherhood. J.R. Martinez is a First Class Father, Actor, Motivational Speaker and United States Army Veteran. J.R. was deployed to Iraq and was driving a Humvee when its left front tire hit an IED. As a result he suffered smoke inhalation and severe burns to more than 34 percent of his body. He spent 34 months at BAMC and has undergone 33 plastic surgery and skin graft surgeries. He became a motivational speaker and began providing support to fellow burn survivors while being treated for his burn injuries. In 2008, J.R. was cast in ABC's daytime drama “All My Children” as Brot Monroe. Despite having to relearn how to walk, he competed on and won Season 13 of ABC's “Dancing with the Stars”. J.R.is the host of his own podcast REBIRTH. In this Episode, J.R. shares his Fatherhood journey which includes two children. He describes how he handles the looks and comments from people about his appearance. He discusses the challenges of having a baby during the pandemic. He talks about his daughter’s reaction to watching him on Dancing with the stars. He talks about OPERATION FINALLY HOME and the impact it’s having on veterans. He offers some great advice for new or about to be Dads and more!
